Duncan and Lu Chu

New characters, new story. As if I didn't have enough of those already, another one comes and randomly pops into my ever expanding imagination Xd.

Obviously this is the main character, Duncan, and his adorable little companion, Lu Chu (pronouced LOO jyuu, or "lose you" spoken quickly), though I haven't decided quite what she is yet... she's cute though huh ^-^?

Right, you'll be wanting a little bit of info on his story now so... Duncan is a 16 year old boy, whos heavy addiction to video games and the vast fantasy worlds he's created in his mind actually pulled him from the boring real world into a real world of fantasy. While there he's given the task of guarding a young girl named Fall for reasons unknown, however she doesn't make his task easy because it's obvious she has a strong dislike towards him for no apparant reason. Traveling along with them is little Lu Chu who, unlike Fall, is very fond of Duncan and, likewise, Duncan is very fond of Lu Chu, and very rarely do you find one without the other. Another girl who seems very fond of Duncan is Emalia. Wherever Duncan is, Emalia's sure to not be too far behind, and will do anything in her power to make Duncan hers. However she see's Fall as a "threat" to her plan believing that she and Duncan are an "item", which couldn't be any further from the real truth, and so is always plotting ways to get Fall out of the way. This certianly puts Duncan on his toes, trying to carry out his duty of protecting the ungrateful Fall, but he doesn't quite realise what Emalia's true intentions are yet.
Funnily enough, Duncan was never all that popular with the girls back home...

Of course, the story is in VERY early development and more things will be added/altered/taken away as time goes by. I've come up with a tentative title for the story which is "Wannabe Hero", however I might change it yet, I dunno.
The genre of the story is mostly fantasy-comedy, with aspects of action, adventure and a little bit of romance.

Duncan is mostly based on myself, which you could probably tell when I first said "heavily addicted to video games" and "vast fantasy worlds created in his mind". I have yet to be physically sucked into one of my fantasy worlds though, and I happen to be a girl don't forget . Another trait of mine I gave him... is my clumbsiness. Ironically it was something that happened to me yesterday (something very PAINFUL) which aided me in naming the supporting character, Fall XP.
Duncan is also one of my rare male main characters, since most of my main characters are female. I wanted to make the main character a male for this story, as I felt that a male would fit in better with the part he's got (bare in mind the gender decision was made BEFORE the other girls were added). Another reason (which you may or may not find silly) is because I once had a dream in which I was a boy and I got sucked into a video game, and so if either the idea was inspired by the dream, or the idea made me think of the dream, I decided it'd be appropriate to make the main character a boy.
As for Lu Chu, I just wanted to make a cute little ally to fly alongside Duncan. Lu Chu's name is Chinese by the way, and it means "green pearl" or "green jewel", though Lu Chu is gonna be more of a turquoise when I come around to colouring her.
Emalia, who I mentioned earlier, is actually a resurrection of a very old character I created and abandoned a good few years ago. I brought her back because her character seemed to suit well in the position of the type of character I wanted in the story. I dunno whether to keep her original appearance or not yet though. Emalia's name is a Latin name that simply means "flirt". Very suitable, no X)?

I was gonna draw Duncan's whole body to begin with, however for some reason I was having trouble with the legs. I seem to get times like this where I just can't draw legs right at all. I was thinking of abandoning the pic because of this, however he has such a lovely face I just couldn't bare to do that, so I carried on with his body and designing the upper part of his outfit. He's gonna be one of the first characters i've made who wears armor, even if they are in small pieces. Theres the chest plate and shoulder gaurds he's wearing here (which is all one piece, don't ask how he gets it on or off), and he's also gonna wear matching metal gloves, leg plates and metal boots. They're gonna be dark blue and dark green in colour, but i'm not sure whether to make the rims of the armor yellow/gold or not... i'll decide when I come to colouring. I also don't know what colour to do his eyes and hair. Any suggestions?

I'll try to draw Fall next. I did attempt to draw her earlier, but I wasn't entirely happy with how she looked so I scrapped it. I can't quite decide whether she should be a bit older, younger or the same age as Duncan... I suppose i'll decide when I get her drawn. I'll also explain what that painful incident was that made me decide on her bizarre name when I do.
